Onwards with part II of Anja Fislage’s series ‘Die Polidoris’! The protagonists set off on an expedition across the seas in hopes to find their missing father. The story is full of spooky (yet somehow cozy) curiosities and I felt very much at home dwelling in its depths.
Die Polidoris is the first novel of author Anja Fislage - spooky in the most wonderful way while at the same time also very warm and comforting, filled with maritime curiosities and strange creatures. Published at Coppenrath in January 2023.
Another exciting project! „Der Frieden ist ausgebrochen“ written by the wonderful Willi Weitzel - a heartfelt conversation between a father and daughter, about what peace is and how it feels like and what happens if it’s lost. The manuscript (and this year in general of course) made me think a lot about how I define peace (an awfully abstract term, really) as well and how it is - contrary to how many of us grew up - sadly absolutely not to be taken for granted. Warm, comforting, sometimes quiet (or very loud), but not a given.
Raus aus einem Meer von Plastik (“out of a sea of plastic”) is a little children’s booklet by the Austrian grocery brand Ja!Natürlich created as part of their 2020 anti-plastic campaign. The story follows the penguin “Pingubert” who got his wing trapped in a plastic bag and his friends on their journey to free him again. I created the illustrations in cooperation with Merlicek & Partner, who were responsible for the general design.
